Elyria Swansea Neighborhood Redevelopment
Elyria Swansea is a unique and important neighborhood in the north of Denver, CO. The racial makeup of this neighborhood has traditionally been composed of migrants, leading to an increased proportion of residents living in poverty. Despite being a culturally diverse neighborhood, poverty has become a key issue that needs to be addressed immediately. The neighborhood's lack of employment opportunities also contributes to its 21% poverty rate.
Setting the stage...
In order to gradually regenerate the neighborhood's economy, implementation of small scale urban spaces will need to occur. The small scale interventions will make the neighborhood economically viable as well as create a sense of ownership and belonging. The strategic placement of multipurpose urban spaces will impact the immediate environment by setting the stage for large developments, solving the neighborhood's economic challenge.
